M.B.E. London Gazette 31 December 1960:

'Divisional Engineer, Midlands Division.'

M.C. London Gazette 18 October 1917, for actions South East of Ypres on 10-11 August 1917.

Second Award Bar to M.C. London Gazette 16 September 1918, for actions near Rouez Camp on 21-28 March 1918.

Third Award Bar to M.C. London Gazette 2 April 1919, for actions near Le Cateau on 22 October 1918.

Ernest Victor Hardaker gained his extraordinary laurels with the 10th Battalion, Essex Regiment, having served in France from 14 June 1916 and afterwards was educated at Leeds University, graduating in 1922. Having been a skilled electrical engineer, he forged a career in the Central Electricity Board, rising to become Divisional Engineer. Retiring to Christchurch in 1962, he died on 30 March 1965.
