Royal Humane Society small Bronze Medal (Dr. H. E. Dixon. 20, Novr. 1869), framed and glazed, edge bruise, overall very fine
H. E. Dixon was serving as a Doctor aboard the seaman's hospital H.M.S. Hamadryad on 20 November 1869 when George Saunders, a blind six-year old fell into the Old Canal, Cardiff. Dixon divied into the 13 foot deep canal and dragged the child to safety, using artificial respiration to save his life; sold framed with a plaque summarising the events of the award.
