Thomas Leonard Whiteman was born at Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire on 12 December 1912 at enlisted with the Royal Navy at St. Vincent as Boy Class II on 17 July 1928.

Whiteman was serving with the Submarine Depot Ship Wolfe by 2 October 1945 as a Petty Officer; sold together with a typed career summery and copied research on H.M.S. Wolfe.
