William Christopher Perry was born at Newcastle, New South Wales on 22 August 1919 and was employed as a sheet metal worker prior to enlistment with the 2/8th Australian Field Company. Noted as missing and declared a deserter on 18 May 1942 Perry was tried, sentenced and fined on 6 September 1942.

Embarking from Brisbane aboard the S.S. Bath Perry was taken onto the strength of the 1st Australian Field Company. Transferring to the Australian Imperial Force on 2 August 1943 he was graded as a 'Rigger' and served in this capacity for the majority of the war. Demobilised on 6 September 1945 he lived for another fifty years, dying on 1 December 1998; sold together with copied service papers and a copied photograph.
