Constance Emily Anne Jackson was born at Leigh, Lancashire on 20 January 1891. Educated first at Ross Hill High School she went on to train as a nurse at the Birmingham and Midland Hospital for Women from September 1909-June 1913. Moving onto the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, Derby she trained and worked there until 1916.

Jackson's Service Records state that she then went on to serve as a Ward Nurse with the British Red Cross in the Military Ward at Southport Infirmary. Her M.I.C. notes entry into the war in France as a Nurse in April 1916, they also state that at this time she was with the French Red Cross.
