E. A. Uphill was born at Paddington in 1898 and enlisted in West London. He was killed in action on 17 August 1918 and is buried in the Godewaersvelde British Cemetery. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Uphill of 10 Chippenham Mews, Maida Hill, London.
