Harold William Gane was born at Brockley and was killed in action on 11 May 1918, aged 24. Commemorated upon the Villers-Bretoneux Memorial, Gane was the son of William T. and Alice Gane, of 35A Lensham Rd., Thornton Heath, Surrey.
