Arthur Vivian Perry was born at Dartford, Kent on 16 November 1891, the son of Arthur and Charlotte Perry. Training as a lawyer he was admitted to the Bar in 1913 and was practicing in Hankow, China, when the war began, despite his remote location Perry enlisted as a Private. Later commissioned he entered the war in France on 2 February 1916 as a 2nd Lieutenant. Promoted Captain he served with this rank until demobilisation. Perry was married at Shanghai to Doris Bateman on 22 September 1919 and continued to practice in China with Jardine, Matheson & Co. Despite a great deal of world travel he retired to Britain and lived at Windmill Farm, Rushden, Hertfordshire. Perry died there on 5 October 1969; sold together with copied research including census data, M.I.C. and a photograph.
