Charles Arthur Pluck was born at Ramsgate, Kent on 3 November 1898 and was an errand boy upon joining the Royal Navy in November 1916. He served aboard Excellent from 3 November 1916-30 May 1918, being invalided from the service due to disease in July 1919.
