(x) Three: Private G. Drummond, 6th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), who was wounded in action and discharged on 25 January 1916

1914-15 Star (1609 Pte. G. Drummond. Sco. Rif.); British War and Victory Medals (1609 Pte. G. Drummond. Sco. Rif.), heavy pitting and contact wear, nearly very fine (3)

George Drummond was born at Hamilton, Lanarkshire in 1894, the son of John and Agnes Drummond. Enlisting with the army on 9 April 1912 he was called up to fight during the Great War with the 6th Battalion, Cameronians.

This unit was one of the first to enter the Great War, with soldiers from the Regiment playing witness to the Christmas Truce of 1914. Drummond missed the festivities and served in France from 20 March 1915, still making him an early arrival. This is reflected by his early exit from the conflict being wounded severely and unable to continue, Drummond was invalided on 25 January 1916. He died not long after at Glassford, Lanarkshire in 1931; sold together with copied research including an M.I.C. and census data.
