Arthur Smith was born in 1891 at Chester and enlisted in the Royal Welch Fusiliers at Wrexham. He served with the 1st Battalion in France and was killed in action at the Battle of Langemarck on 21 October 1914, being commemorated upon the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
