George Middleton was born at Wye and enlisted at Dover. He served in France from 7 October 1914 and was killed in action on the 5 November 1914 serving with the 3rd Battalion, Irish Guards. Middleton was 34, is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial and was the son of the late George and Helen Middleton, of 37 Whitfield Road South, Ashford, Kent.
