(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 (1120 Sapper W. Kent, Rl: Engrs:), minor edge bruises, overall very fine

William Kent was born at Crewe, Cheshire in 1878. Serving with the 2nd Cheshire Royal Engineers (Railway) Volunteer Corps and working as a fireman prior to enlisting on 1 September 1887 he entered the war in South Africa on 14 March 1901 and served attached to No. 45, Royal Engineers. Returning to Britain on 1 November 1901 he was sent to the Army Reserve on 3 September 1902. Kent was discharged on 31 August 1909.
