India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1887-89 (5453 Pte W. Guy 4th Bn. Rif. Brig.), suspension loose, overall good very fine
William Guy was born at Croydon, Surrey in 1863, the son of Sarah Guy of Croydon. Serving with the 4th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment prior to re-enlisting with the Rifle Brigade on 17 January 1883 he served first with the 3rd Battalion. Posted to the 4th Battalion in India on 28 December 1833 Guy was to serve with them until 5 December 1888 when the unit moved to Burma. They remained here for over a year, helping to quell the resistance movements in Upper Burma before leaving on 28 January 1890. Returning to Britain that same month Guy served for almost five more years, being discharged on 16 Jnaury 1895 having served twelve years; sold together with copied service records and medal rolls.
