William Rose Bock and Alfred Ernest Cousins
Bock was a dominant force in New Zealand stamp production for over half a century from the mid-1870's until 1931 and Cousins the only New Zealander ever to defined himself specifically as an 'engraver of the postage stamp die' as he did in the 1894 Wellington Almanack.
1900 die proof in red wax of the 1d. embossed postal stationery design by W. R. Bock, affixed to card (90 x 58mm.); rare. Two similar proofs are in the Post Office collection at the Te Papa National Museum in Wellington.
