A used group showing early usage comprising 1d. rose (3, including a horizontal pair), 2d. lilac, 3d. yellow, 4d. green (2), 6d. brown (5, comprising a horizontal pair and three used on piece), 8d. blue and 1/- (4, including a horizontal pair) all except the 3d. with 1882 postmarks of various post offices including Gisborne, Coalgate and Waipukurau; good to fine

Note: The Campbell Paterson catalogue makes the following comments regarding usage: 'the original printings of the 4d., 6d., 8d. and 1/- are excessively rare used in 1882 (with provable date).' Only five examples are recorded of the 8d. value used in 1882.
