1847, cover to Kloof Road, Cape Town, rated "8" in red manuscript and "pd 8d" in black, postmarked with Bungay double split-ring (Jan.21), additionally affixed with 1d red tied by PAID datestamp (22 Jan.), ship letter london (Jan. 22) datestamp struck beside, indistinct faint oval backstamp, an unusual cover apparently paid in cash with an additional 1d adhesive, some light wrinkles, striking and fine.
