George II (1727-1760), 'Roses' Shilling, 1739, 'Small Garter Star', young laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, roses in angles, small Garter star, eight strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.99g, 5h (Bull 1715 [R4]; ESC 1201B; Spink 3701), tiny scuffs on the king's cheek, otherwise subtle but attractive olive-grey toning and residually lustrous, good very fine, very rare
