Anne (1702-1714), Post-Union, Edinburgh Shilling, 1709 E*, Local dies, draped bust left, the 'Edinburgh' bust with the two top curls both curling to the right, E* below, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.88g, 6h (Bull 1444; ESC 1152 [R2]; Spink 3615), faint surface marks, otherwise light attractive tone overlying lustrous original surfaces, a pleasingly good very fine for issue, rare, especially in this honest high grade
Reputedly Westminster School School collection, but no listing for a 1709 E* Shilling under lot 542 of the Sotheby sale.
