Auction: 22117 - Spink Numismatic e-Circular 17: Part II - A Gentleman's Collection of Shillings, Sixpences and Maundy Coins - e-Auction
Lot: 1006
William III (1694-1702), Chester Shilling, 1697, third laureate, cuirassed and draped bust right, C below, rev. no stops after MAG FRA HIB, four crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, eight billets, obliquely milled edge, 6.12g, 6h (Bull 1175 seven strings not noted; ESC 1104; Spink 3507), faint adjustment marks above king's head and lightly cleaned, otherwise a bolder very fine
Not surprisingly the lack of stops on the reverse is also a feature of the Chester third bust coins, but again Bull makes no mention of it. Also the seven strings to the harp is not unusual.
