Saudi Arabia, Hejaz (c. 1916), countermarked coin on Ottoman 10-Para, AH1327 / regnal year over struck, possibly '2', countermark al-Hejaz in Arabic on obverse, (host coin KM 760, with countermark KM 2), countermarked 10-Paras rarely encountered, host coin about very fine, countermark extremely fine

Following the defeat of the Ottomans in 1916, some Turkish coins were countermarked for circulation in Hejaz. The countermark was deliberately placed over the Turkish Tughra on the obverse to mark the change of rule.
