(x) PCGS C/M XF-Details | Scotland, James VI (1567-1603), Second Coinage, Revaluation of 1578, Countermarked 'Sword' Dollar or Ryal, 1567, Edinburgh, •: IACOBVS • 6 • DEI • GRATIA • REX • SCOTORVM • crowned Scottish shield, dividing two thistles, rev. •: PRO • ME • SI • MEREOR • IN • ME :•, crowned upright sword dividing pointing hand, XXX and 15-67 in fields, thistle countermark in left field, 4h (Spink, pp. 76, cf. 5472), struck on a defective flan with surface delamination through crown and further surface porosity to fields perhaps suggestive of preparation for gilding, otherwise struck details largely uniform and distinctly bold to peripheries, approaching very fine thus, in ill-fitting oversize PCGS Genuine holder, graded C/M - XF Details (Cert. #33845997)
