Thracian Kingdom Koson, AU Stater, 50-1 BC, Roman consul left, accompanied by two lictors; BR monogram at left, KOSON below, rev eagle flying left, wreath and sceptre held in talons. 8.43g, (RPC I 1701 ; BMC p. 208, 2 ; BMCRR II p. 474) Well struck, in high relief, cabinet toned ; theorised that the BR monogram is referencing Brutus (Caesar's assassin), struck from a travelling mint he brought with him while in Thrace, raising troops. Inscription can be read as BR (Brutus) COS (consul) ON (of the). translates to - "Coin of the Consul Brutus"
