Sicily Syracuse, 2nd Democracy, AR Tetradrachm, C.466-406BC, Slow quadriga driven right by charioteer holding goad; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses, Skylla in exergue, rev Diademed head of Arethusa right, wearing pearl necklace, four dolphins around, SYRAKOSION around, 17.34g, (Boehringer.574 (V287/R394) ; SNG ANS.180) Struck in high relief, on slightly undersized flan, resulting in the loss of the charioteers body, however, the rest of this coin is in exemplar condition, beautifully toned, with a touch of horn silver to the right of Arethusa's eye.
