Lot: 980

Charles II (1660-85), Shilling, 1681, second laureate and draped bust right, A over A, and L over I in CAROLVS, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, milled edge, 5.94g, 6h (Bull 553-R3; ESC 1061; S.3375), good fine, very rare, rated R3 by Bull, and only two examples at auction in the last 20 years

Bull 553 notes the L over I, as on this coin, and he also notes A over A, which is not visibe here but can clearly be seen on the following lot. Also he gives 4? strings, but here the six strings are very clear.
