Anne (1702-1714), Post-Union, Edinburgh, Shillings, 1708-E * (8), 1708 over 7, second (local variety 2) draped bust left, rev. thin slanting 17, 8 over 7, narrow 0, no stops after MAG, BR and HIB, crowned 'narrow' shields cruciform, angles plain, rays to Garter star, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.90g, 6h (Bull KB/7; Bull 1431/1430; PHF/ESC 1145B/A), rubbed and lightly cleaned, poor to good, the notch in hair indicative of the local dies issue, a sub-variety not previously noted, presumably rare thus; another, similar, rev. 'J type 1', Broad 0, no overdate, six strings, 5.57g, 6h, rubbed, scratched and waterworn, poor to good, an unusual variety; again, as last, strings unclear, 5.37g, 6h (Bull 1430ff; ESC 1145ff), very poor; also, 1708-E* 'Z type 1' (3), bust variety as first, re. five strings, 5.52g, very poor; another, rev. five strings, 5.61g, 6h, scrubbed with resultant scratches, good / fair; lastly, six strings, 5.43g, 6h (Bull KB/8; Bull 1431 [R2]; PHF/ESC 1145B), portrait filed down, atrocious state; nevertheless all considered rare; additionally, second (London, Pre-Union) draped bust, rev. 'Z type 1', 'narrow' shields, 6.01g, 6h (Bull F/8; Bull 1433 [R2]; PHF/ESC 1145E; Spink 3609A), rubbed and lightly toned, near fine and rare; finally, second (local variety 3) draped bust left, rev. 'Z type 1', Narrow 0, six strings, 5.84g, 6h (Bull KC/8; PHF/ESC 1145F; Spink 3609A), rubbed and toned, good / fine, rare (8)
