William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, Bristol, Shillings (6), 1696 (3), first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, B below, rev. small x in REX, crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.48g, 6h; another, regular X in REX, five strings to harp, 5.81g, 7h (Bull 1158, 1159; ESC 1081); also, 1697 (3), first bust, rev. six strings to harp, 5.68g, 6h; another, 5.00g, 7h (Bull 1161; ESC 1095; Spink 3506); additionally, third bust variety (2), rev. six strings to harp, 5.50g, 6h; another, five strings to harp, 5.65g, 6h (Bull 1164 [R3]; ESC 1109; Spink 3512), some badly scratched or with smoothed edges, generally mediocre to poor, all scarce; the last waterworn, graffiti'd and darkly patinated, otherwise fair / fine, and very rare (6)
