William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, Exeter, Halfcrown, 1696 E OCTAVO, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, E below, rev. small crowned shields cruciform, small early harp with five strings, eight billets, lettered edge, 15.10g, 6h (Bull 1069 [R4]; ESC 537; Spink 3478), adjustment marks both sides, and lightly cleaned, otherwise residually lustrous, struck details a bolder fine, very rare, with collector's ticket stating: 'better than the Hamilton of Dalzell specimen and not in the Manville 1980 collection'
