Auction: 22105 - Spink Numismatic e-Circular 20 - The Wootton Collection of English Silver Coins - e-Auction
Lot: 2283
Charles II (1660-1685), Crown, 1682 TRICESIMO QVARTO, fourth laureate and draped bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, lettered edge, 29.57g, 6h (Bull 416 [R4]; ESC 65; Spink 3359), flaw across bust and struck weak to peripheries as usual for issue, otherwise lightly toned, fine, the reverse better still, extremely rare with the unaltered date
Provenance
Purchased privately, 27 December 1994
Both Bull and ESC rate the 1682 as R4. This is clearly correct as the overwhelming majority of 1682s are overdates and the straight 1682 is rare in any condition.
