Commonwealth (1649-1660), Halfcrown, 1651, Tower, • THE • COMMONWEALTH • OF • ENGLAND •, English shield within palm and laurel wreath, rev. • 1651 • GOD • WITH • VS, conjoined shields of England and Ireland, 14.88g, 11h, m.m. sun [on obv. only] (Bull 17; ESC 426; North 2722; Spink 3215), the obverse stained with old scratches across devices, the reverse nicely cabinet toned and lustrous, striking softness at centre, otherwise a bolder fine and not unattractive example for issue on a slightly square-cut flan
