Delhi Durbar 1911 (Engineer Captain William Onyon.), engraved naming, good very fine

[4th Class Royal Victorian Order] invested 4 February 1912.

William Onyon was born on 24 June 1862 and was appointed Engineer Lieutenant on 1 April 1903, having previously served as Chief Engineer of the Jamaica Dockyard from 1898-1902. He was the first Engineer Commander of H.M.S. Dreadnought and was Senior Engineer on the Staff of Admiral Keppel during the voyage of King George V and Queen Mary to India aboard the Medina for the 1911 Durbar. Onyon retired in 1913; sold together with the Warrant for his Royal Victorian Order and appointment as Engineer Lieutenant, besides a Royal Lifesaving Society Medal.
