Charles Salway entered the war in France on 29 March 1915 and served until he was demobilised on 18 March 1919;sold together with copied M.I.C.
Leslie Salway served as Wireless Operator/Air Gunner on Lancaster LL842, No. 50 Squadron which was shot down on the night of 24-25 July 1944 during a raid over Stuttgart. An early raid using large amounts of raid jamming 'window' the attack was a major success however 23 bombers were shot down. LL842 was claimed by the German Ace Wilhelm Glitz of Stab NJGN, who ended the war with 12 kills. First reported as evading Salway was in fact killed turning the crash he is buried at Nogent-Le-Rotrou Communial Cemetery; sold together with an original notification of death, eleven photographs and a Souvenir photograph of the recipient taken at the 1937 coronation as well as copied research including mission reports, squadron details and casualty reports.
