(x) Three: Craftsman E. Brown, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, who was wounded in action twice, in Italy and later Burma

Eric Brown was born at Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield on 29 August 1918. Enlisting at Leicester with the Royal Army Ordinance Corps on 1 November 1939 he served with them until 1 October 1942 when he transferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Posted first to Italy Brown is listed as wounded on 1 March 1944, later in the year he was transferred to Burma only to be wounded again on an unrecorded date. Serving with Major-General Festing's 36th Division he was involved in driving the Japanese forces from Northern Burma. Sent to the Army Reserve on 20 March 1946; sold together with an original archive including soldier's pay book, soldier's release book, birth certificate and campaign medal eligibility form as well as a photograph, record of service and certificate of transfer to Army Reserve along with a newspaper article.
