Walter Froggatt entered the war in France as a Corporal with the 10th Battalion, Yorkshire and Lancaster Regiment in 1916 having been assigned the Regimental service number 22016. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 25 September 1917 and after the war returned to his home of Rotherham where his medals were delivered to him at 37 Josephine Road on 18 July 1923.
