Francis Norman Truelove was born in 1882 and lived at 16 Clayton Road, Peckham prior to enlistment. His attestation notes time spent with the 38th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry however he enlisted with 1st (City of London) Battalion (Royal Fusiliers) on 27 January 1915. Transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps on 10 May 1915 Truelove entered the war in Egypt on 23 May. Leaving for Gallipoli two days later he arrived on 28 May and served here for almost a year, leaving in early January 1916 and returning to Egypt.
Truelove remained in Egypt until March before being posted to the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force on 14 March 1916. Promoted Acting Sergeant while serving there with 30th Sanitary Section on 1 May 1917. Returning to Britain on 8 November 1918 Truelove was disembodied on 4 July 1919.
