Sydney Charles Oliver Dallimore was born at Bedminster, Somerset in March 1899, the son of Elias and Mary Dallimore of 10 Eaton Street, Bedminster. Enlisting at Pontypridd Dallimore joined the war in France on 2 December 1915 despite only being sixteen at the time. The next year he went into action alongside the rest of 38 (Welsh) Division at Mametz Wood. Dallimore was killed in action on 10 July 1916 two days before the end of fighting in the wood. He is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied research including census data, M.I.C. and pension details as well as an original slip of issue for the 1914-15 Star and a photograph of the recipient's name upon the memorial.
