Edward Frederick Tumber was born at Igalpuri, India in 1889 and by 1911 was living at 62 Killyon Road, Clapham with his widowed mother. A bank clerk by trade, Tumber served in France with the London Regiment from 4 November 1914. He was killed in action on 1 July 1916 and is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial.
