Africa Service Medal 1939-45 (93037 J. C. Uys), very fine

John Gerhadus Uyd was born at Worcester, Cape on 31 August 1898 and worked as the station mast prior to enlisting on 17 August 1940 with the 1st Battalion, Royal Durban, Light Infantry with the Regimental Number 41/8808. Entraining on 31 January 1941 Uyd arrived at Niarobi on 19 February 1941.
