Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque (Robert Walter Pierce), heavily polished, naming faded but legible, nearly very fine

Robert Walter Pierce was born in 1892. A pre-war soldier he entered the war in France on 11 August 1914 with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Seeing action at Mons (star and clasp) Pierce was gassed at some stage in 1916. Later transferring to the 16th Battalion he was taking part in a trench raid on 15 March 1918 when he was killed in action; sold together with a copied newspaper extract and typed biography.
