Ann Beatrice Cain was born in 1926, the daughter of J. E. Cain and attended Douglas High School for Girls, Isle of Man. Joining the Isle of Man Army Territorial Service (Territorial Army) and reached the rank of Sergeant before joining the Regular Army. Commissioned to the Women's Royal Army Corps on 6 July 1951 as a 2nd Lieutenant and further advanced Lieutenant on 26 January 1953. Promoted Captain on 25 May 1957 and further advanced Major, Cain retired on 22 March 1968. She returned to the Isle of Man after retirement, living at 13 Victoria Terrace, Douglas, Isle of Man; sold together with commission document, copied London Gazette entries, electoral register transcripts and newspaper extracts as well as corresponding dress miniatures.
