India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, North West Frontier (1483 H. Dougan H.M’s 1st Bn. 6th Regt.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1483. Cr. Sergt. H. Dongan. R. War: R.), mounted court-style for display, edge bruising and contact marks, naming weak in places on the first, good fine (2)

Hugh Dougen (as shown on discharge papers but variously spelt on the medal rolls) was born in Antrim, Ireland, and attested for the 6th Foot at Belfast on 1 January 1867. He embarked for India on 8 December 1867 and served there until April 1878, participating in the Black Mountain Expedition of 3-22 October 1868, under Major-General A. T. Wilde. He received his L.S. & G.C. medal in January 1885, and was discharged at Warwick on 31 December 1898, having reached the age of discharge; sold together with copied Medal Roll and Attestation papers.
