Abyssinia 1867-68 (Qr Masr J. G. Stokes 1st Battn 4th the K. O. R. Regt), suspension reaffixed, edge bruise, very fine

John Edward Stokes served with the 4th King's Own Regiment, being appointed Quarter-Master in October 1866. He was part of the Abyssinian Expedition in 1867-68 where his regiment was the most heavily involved in the decisive Battle of Magdala. Place on half-pay in December 1870 Stokes joined the 3rd (Depot) Battalion at Parkhurst, Isle of Wight; sold together with typed research.
