Samuel Robert Manning was born at Galway, Ireland. Serving as a Corporal with 1st Battalion, 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot attached to 1st Battalion, 10th Regiment during the Indian Mutiny he was transferred after the fighting on 5 April 1860 to the Army Hospital Corps. Manning died at Dublin on 25 March 1871; sold together with copied Medal Roll.
