India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1888 (654 Pte J. Mc Nally 2d Bn North'd Fus.), suspension a little slack, very fine

John McNally attested for the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1884, transferring from the 4th Durham Light Infantry. Aged 19 and a 'puddler' by profession, he saw service in India, Singapore and South Africa during his 18 years with the Colours. His papers confirm service during the Hazara Expedition of 1888 (Medal & clasp) and also in South Africa during the Second Boer War (Queen's Medal & 3 clasps; King's Medal & 2 clasps). With his conduct noted as 'Very Fair; Latterly V. Good', he was discharged at his own request in December 1902; sold together with copied service papers and Medal Roll extracts.
