White, Royal Navy, a Prisoner of War; comprising Certificate of Service, Stoker Rating Sheet, two Ministry of Pensions letters, dated 1 October 1947, for injuries to his back besides gunshot wounds to his right leg and right arm, Ship Posting Form No. M18, 3-page latter written from the POW Camp at Palembang, giving an introduction to the recipient, a portrait sketch of a POW at Palembang, by Rex Spencer, together with three other similar scenes, besides a number of photographs of the recipient, very fine (Lot)

Stanley William White was born at Clerkenwell, London on 4 April 1911 and was a carpet warehouseman upon his joining the Royal Navy on 12 May 1941 (KX.130200) as a Stoker 2nd Class. He was taken Prisoner of War on 8 March 1942, after '...the mine sweeper in which he was serving was sunk after enemy action in the Sunda Straits.'

White was clearly wounded on the occasion on which he was taken POW and was eventually released 'physically unfit' on 27 April 1946.
