Frank Weaver was born at Sheffield, Yorkshire on 6 November 1907 and was a motor mechanic by trade upon joining the Royal Navy on 9 May 1923. He served aboard Vansittart from 5 February 1927-20 August 1932. He joined Shropshire on 1 June 1935 and would have shared in the British response to the Abyssinia Crisis and she was present for the Spanish Civil War, Weaver leaving her books on 9 March 1936.
Joining the Royal Fleet Reserve on 6 November 1937, he returned to the fold for the Second World War. He saw various service aboard Capetown and on the Flower-Class Corvette Meadowsweet (K144) from 23 May 1943-27 December 1944, during which she saw much service as an ocean escort. He was discharged on 27 February 1946.
