Kesar Singh was the son of Har Kaur, of Shahab Pura, Amritsar, India and husband of Dalip Kaur, of Shahab Pura. He served initially with the 2nd Battalion, 14th Punjab Regiment and transferred to the 6th Battalion. He served with the Regiment in Malaya and was killed in action during the Battle of Singapore, sometime between 1-28 February 1942, being commemorated upon the Singapore Memorial.
