Samuel Theobald was born at Wilne, Derbyshire in October 1895, the son of Samuel and Mary Theobald of 5 New Daylight, Wilne. He worked as a Beamer in a lace mill prior to enlistment, he attested for the Northumbrian Fusiliers at Ilkeston, Nottinghamshire. Later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps he was killed in action on 23 March 1918; sold together with copied research including M.I.C. and Commonwealth War Graves details along with original letter of issue for his pair.
