Arthur Hooper was born at Holloway, London on 11 September 1882 and was a bootmaker upon his joining the Royal Navy on 20 July 1899. He joined Naiad on 19 March 1901 and was landed as a Bluejacket later that year, being further entitled to the Cape Colony and South Africa 1901 clasps to his Queen's Medal. Hooper was shore pensioned on 13 June 1905.
