Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (J. White. Gr & Dr 12th Btn. Rl Arty.), officially impressed naming; Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Bombr John White, 12th Bn R. Arty); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian Issue, (Corporal J. White. 14th Brigade Roy. Art.), privately impressed naming severely worn in places; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (Bombr John White Coast Ble R A), heavy contact marking and edge bruising to first and second, overall nearly very fine (4)
John White served with 12th Battalion, 14th Brigade Royal Artillery. Notably a John White '1' Company, 12th Battalion is listed upon the roll as entitled to the 'Inkermann' clasp. While here he served as Gunner and Driver. During the Indian Mutiny White is confirmed on the roll as still serving with 12th Battalion, at this stage in '5' Company. He was a part of Sir Colin Campbell's army for the Second Relief of Lucknow having been promoted to the rank of Bombardier. Retaining this rank he at some stage transferred to the Coastal Artillery where he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
